It's grim down South

Woke up to grey which was a shock after yesterday's crisp blue. The Mairie had sent a link to La Provence (newspaper) which was a video of the snowploughs clearing the road up Ventoux yesterday! 25 cm fell yesterday, their best fall of the winter.

1 May Snow on Ventoux

We'd seen it from a distance from Rasteau on our walk.

And now I think I see why this coachload of Swiss Cycle tourists were heading for the motorway home...

We needed cash so set out to Sérignan near Orange. The post office in Vaison is closed for refurb and Sérignan is their next closest ATM. They are few and far between. By the time we arrived it was spotting with rain and the ATM announced it was temporarily unavailable. So we went in to ask how long this might be for and while in the queue spotted the Brinks truck arriving, presumably with stashes of notes! Anyway lady said it would be an hour before it was working and kindly let us have €100 from the till.

Definitely pouring down now. Not a day to be out so we detoured back via Ste Cécile for coffee. Our Americans have invited us for soup, which will be most welcome. And it is after all Tuesday for all you who remember the Scaffold song.
