TGV Avignon (image)
Yesterday we dropped Terry off at Avignon TGV then returned via the north side of the river in a fruitless journey to find butter. The river cruisers were all in and crocodiles of tourists, mostly Chinese, were disgorging from the ranks of coaches that had driven them all of five minutes to the city walls. A large tanker was piping out effluent from one vessel, vans were offloading crates of drinks onto another.
We did pass (the operative word) a Lidl at Roquemaure but were bent on having a coffee in Caderousse so continued. Caderousse was closed! Monday. So we thought maybe Camaret would do because there is a small Intermarché there. I refuse to go into the one in Orange! Anyway Camaret also closed. We gave up.
At 6 we were just warming up the leftover pizza when Liz and Keith appeared. Wine was opened and news imparted. They have had An Offer on their house. So mixed emotions all round.
Today we took them to Villedieu for lunch in the sun and had a really jolly time. They are off home on Thursday so it was farewell until, hopefully, next Spring. The house sale is unlikely to be completed before then they think.
