Well it did rain last night. Quite a lot. And more was expected today…but it didn’t arrive. We just got clouds and then later on sunny intervals.
So not a very exciting day to recount. Off to Vaison to get the letter for the bank printed from the Media PC. These places all look the same - there’s a similar one in Chulmleigh! A taciturn IT chap with vape seized my ipad from me and muttered and fiddled with it then retrieved an immaculate printed sheet from his printer. 1 euro. Bargain.Next stop coffee in Malaucène. We’d missed the market yesterday because of the potential rain, likewise our roadside people watching spot in the caff. Our table was free and strong crèmes were obtained. Not many folk to watch though, so we contented ourselves with trying to spot estate cars. Apparently they are an endangered species!
The weather was looking OK still despite clouds and warnings. So I grabbed a couple of well filled poppy seed baguette sandwiches and we pottered home in a leisurely fashion via the Roman bridge at Entrechaux that crosses the Ouvèze. There’s much flood warning here - it is after all only just above Vaison where the terrible flood killed so many in 1992. Hard to believe because the river runs through quite a wide plain before reaching the town. But three rivers meet just upstream and the volume of water was immense.Anyway, as you can see, water levels today were negligible. The weir was dry.
Back at base it was sandwiches and Puyméras rouge in the sun and misty views. 24 degrees.
