Journey's End

We got into Sablet at 4 pm just as the high clouds were forming. Oh yes! After days of clear blue and warmth the mistral is forecast for the weekend. Terrace roof repair done, plants shrivelled, huge black German car parked in front (next door's renters!). Apart from that all is well. We shopped for basics, had a drink at the bar then visited the Kaisers.

Our day began at 7 and we were away by half past and having breakfast in Martel at 8. A lovely drive through the Lot and Aveyron - looking really autumnal up there. Crossed the Millau Viaduct in thick fog which was a bit alarming. It only affected the bridge and either side was bright sunshine with the tips of the towers peeking out. And we had a slighty worrying incident at the Décazeville filling station. Fill her up son, unleaded...ah but which unleaded?! It seems we put in something called E85 which was suspiciously cheap. No idea what it was and we were anxious that the whole engine didn't grind to a halt! I reassured Adrian that as we already had half a tank of very expensive 98 octane (also a mistake) it would aggregate out to the correct 94... But what do I know! Anyway it transpires that this E85 is just bio ethanol and whilst not brilliant, should do no harm.

Once across the great divide and down the vertiginous snake road that is the A75 into the Hérault plain, we stopped in Mèze to see Peter and had lunch in the sun on the quayside. Very nice and a shame to have to leave so soon.
