A culture day at last! Well afternoon actually. This a.m. we had to feed Peugeot but, owing to a slightly worrying emissions warning light, we decided veggie food was not for him. Gives them wind apparently (too much oxygen). So, back to essence ordinaire. The skies have greyed in anticipation of rain tonight but still not too cold and warmth is forecast to return next week.
Off to La Garde Adhémar, the site of last summer's walk when we first spotted this gallery. It is in an old silk spinning mill and home to a world famous printmaker and his workshop.

The exhibition sounded interesting so we went on spec, not really knowing what it was. Fabulous place, all tasteful, but the door was locked despite the opening hours saying it was open.
We peered in through the lovely windows and would probably have been content with that.
Then a lady appeared in great haste. She was Mrs Printmaker and most apologetic...short staffed, emergency visit to station, etc etc.
Anyway five minutes later we were in the hall of wonders and having it all explained.
The exhibition is of some (not all) of the furniture collected over decades by a Belgian friend, furniture maker Marc Hotermans. It contains iconic pieces by Le Corbusier, Aalto, Mies van der Rohe and others. And you are encouraged to sit on them! The walls have abstract paintings by artist Guillaume Moschini - all really well arranged. We spent a good hour or more trying out the seats and chatting to Mme Linard.
Then she pointed out two recliners under the plane trees. They are originals from the liner France!
Not only that, but they have their original cushions that she took out for us to try. Not quite cruising weather but I did my best!
