Spatter pattern

So after the bucolic lyricism of yesterday here is a gritty account of spilt coffee. Adrian was heading upstairs with a tray of coffee and chocolate biscuits. He so very nearly made it but quite literally fell at the last hurdle. There was an almighty crash and I turned my head to see him face down on the tiles with the shattered tray and cups strewn about him. Being the solicitous sort I did first enquire if he was hurt! Then surveyed the pool of brown liquid on the floor and the Jackson Pollock decoration of the walls and furniture. You know the sort of thing - like when the forensic folk in white suits go about fluorescing blood all over a crime scene. It was everywhere. We swabbed and dabbed and rubbed and thought we’d got it all, but today found more in remote corners…all now repainted. The room reeked like a Kardomah so I placed my new Spanish trainers that are impregnated with a strong vanilla aroma on the area and left them overnight. It seems to have worked. But my dear little tray is done for - bottom has dropped out leaving a mere wooden frame.

Today, we are expecting Sandrine the Energy Auditor at 6.30 so we decided to have a lunch out instead of supper. Puyméras was the chosen destination but once again mysteriously it was barred and shuttered. No explanation. Faucon is only down the road and we’ve not been there for a while so that was an easy substitute. Nice sunny day, just a bit of a chill breeze, but certainly sitting out weather. Lunch on the terrasse amid the colourful chairs and tables. Good tartes.

Faucon has been seriously renovated recently. New public areas where once there were just ruins. Still very picturesque and still the remnants of times past, and fabulous views. We like it!
