Then a late Perrier and ham sandwich outside at the Bar - pretty empty by that time. As we were eating a smartish couple abandoned their posh car at a rakish angle in the carpark. Man sits down on terrace and then inexplicably asked the waitress if it was alright just to order two coffees. Mutual incomprehension - she asked him why and said he thought it was just a restaurant not a bar as well despite the evidence before his very eyes... I have never heard your actual Frenchman be so hesitant or bothered about such a thing. They came from Eure...
Finally a mercy dash to Intermarché for some of that gloopy caramel ice-cream with fudge bits in that Adrian so adores. Hell's Teeth, the place is in disarray. Major refit - vast empty spaces where once aisles of biscuits and shampoo and jams and coffee were to be found. On the way back we ventured into the fancy paint emporium opposite Brandos to see if they stocked the ceiling paint in the Moroccan room. It is called Pompeii. They did. But lady advised us not to try to patch it up because she says you can't do that with chalk paint. Bummer...thing is, while attaching ceiling light, a bit has come away round the rose but it will have to stay that way now unless I can find a matching felt tip! But I think she is wrong...will investigate.
No matter, here we be in the top room with my little garden brightening up the terrace. Time to sit out and enjoy the afternoon sun.
