Last night we went to the Florian with J and G to see The Party. Very good and very short! Next week it’s Bladerunner 2049 - very long!
Lovely evening and we drove back round the Séguret hills to view the vines and distant mountans etched sharply in the clear sky.
Another cloudless sunny day today. Everywhere the laser dislay boards are warning about drought and telling us to be vigilant. We needed milk and lemons so drove to Beaumes market - small and well equipped . Coffee in the Bar next to this example of the French language at its most inelegant!
And then round the back of the hill and up into the vines and secret hillsides.
There’s a good walk to the Abbaye de St Hilaire that is being restored and back via an old château - also under reconstruction.
Wonderful views all round.
The Abbaye is being done by volunteers and some of them were sitting having lunch under the shade of the pines as we passed. The château though seems to be a semi official project with funding and archaeological surveys etc and schedules of work! Their operatives were also dining al fresco. Very nice too on such a glorious day.
We ended the tour by driving yet higher into the hills for a recce of future walks, then zoomed back to B for an omlette and chips in the Brasserie. Just got in before 2.
