Lubéron

Another lovely day. Off south to Cucuron and the Lubéron - only an hour and a half so we were there just before midday.

It’s just special down there. Not quite so many vines, lots of olives, prairie crops, and of course fruit and veg galore. We even passed a yard overflowing wih pumpkins. Crates, trailers,  sheds, piles of them. And it is really dry.

Cucuron was its usual pretty, slightly scruffy self. Fairly quiet and closed, being Monday.

After a walk round the town and the famliar haunts it was plat du jour at Le Cercle. Simple fare but just what we wanted.

We left the Bar de l’Étang to the few tourists, not us of course...

This time we gave Vaugines a miss but stopped briefly in Lourmarin. Crazy place, like a stage set of a Parisien quartier. Crocodile of American tourists with identity cards round their necks in case they got lost! But such a pretty spot.

Then on up the combe and across through Bonnieux to Lacoste. Home of Le Marquis de Sade.

After a coffee overlooking the valley back towards Bonnieux we inflicted sadism on ourselves and walked up the slippery steep cobbled alleys to the top of the château.

Could have driven but where’s the challenge in  that!

A group of ladies were having a tai chi class in a clearing. How nice.

Fun sign seen on a wine store in Cucuron. More pix on Google link
