Building site

Took it easy today and just walked up to see how things were progressing at the Chapelle de St Hillaire above Beaumes. It’s cooler and a bit cloudy but still pleasantly warm.

Anyway, they have made great strides forward. The roof is done, there’s a lovely new bell with an image of St H himself

and best of all, the church has been reconsecrated...just a few weeks ago.

Still plenty of work to do on the surroundings but they do leave the site so neat and tidy!

We were the only ones up there today. Very
peaceful. No irises but plenty of olives.

At 12 sharp we were back at the car and then we returned home via a drink under the trees in Vacqueyras. The leaves on the plane trees are shrivelling...scent of woodsmoke in the air. C’est l’automne!
