Definitely raining

No doubt what it was doing today. Relentless heavy rain, clouds down to rooftop level. Yuk! We tried to find some exhibitions or something to visit but most don’t seem to open until end of the month. However I did find one in Grignan - a chapel with modern stained glass installation. Grignan is nice anyway so we donned full protective gear and drove north. We parked right by the chapel, poster announcing the event on all gates, and addressed the door. Closed, unbudgeable, fermée. Harrumph! Disgruntled to say the least we paddled into town stopping now and then to sniff the beautiful roses that clothe every wall. My shop still has its sheep and also this flower-bedecked gilded lamb.

All we could think of was to get out of the wet and have a drink, and after a brief wander we fell into Le Grenier à Sel, once a bistrot and now refurbed into a smart café bar. Good hot chocolate and Noisettes. Prior to that I’d sprinted up to the Tourist Office to see just what was the situation at the chapel. Girl assured me that it was open and that the door was just a bit stiff. So…back we walked. I went on ahead to wrestle with the door - still resolutely closed. Adrian tried - no joy. The best I could do was take a photo of the poster and the chapel together!

Return via Richerenches and an exhibition of ghastly flower daubs upstairs in the Templiers hall. Mercy dash to Tulette for milk, and phew! home and dry.

Oh yes…won £100 on Ernie
