Everything a day out of synch, apologies. Yesterday was Monday. It was hot. We went to Roaix for lunch. And then off to the Drôme for a look at Richerenches - walled Templars Commanderie and truffle centre. A favourite little place. In the smart new shop selling gourmet essentials we spotted Truffle Aperitif. What on earth would that taste like!
And then Grillon and Grignan. The former for architecture - modernist HLM incorporated seemlessly into the ruined walls and spanking bright glass edifice as social centre. The latter pretty much closed (Monday) and being titivated. New paving round the fountain and scaffolding round the château.
The point of this poster is that Aligot is a super favourite dish of potato and stringy cheese, turned into a smooth purée. From the Auvergne. Arm breaking work. And we actually got some on Uzès market on Saturday. Serendipity.
One wonders if the young farmers were just eating it or were they demonstrating the technique. Is it code for something else? Who knows.
