Friday

M Jouve the Boiler came this morning to fit the new insulation seal. The old one had lasted 30 years! So we had to stay in.

It’s a windy day and this is keeping the furnace at bay...we risked Roaix for lunch. To Adrian’s utter joy they had calf’s liver on the menu and we had anxious moments before our order was taken in case a hand came with damp cloth to erase it from the blackboard! This has happened before to the poor chap. But his luck was in today, phew!

Then a quick trip up the hill to look at the view.

Cicadas deafening yet somehow invisible. However if you really really concentrate you can spot them if they move so I stood staring into the branches like some mystic until one decided to go for a walk.

Then back to the terrace room, curtains flapping, shutters rattling, cushions blowing about. Delightful!

Watched the second half of France v Uruguay and managed not to jinx it! Remarkably quiet out there despite the win. No hooting or shouting. Have another cicada!
