Simple fare

A tootle up to Visan with G and J this morning. All very jolly and with the aim of purchasing wine. We did, they didn’t, so on to Rochegude where we all did! By then it was half an hour to lunchtime and all agreed Roaix it should be. We arrived on the dot of 12 and got a nice table under the mulberry trees. Well difficult not to as they are all under the trees! Good meal of boeuf b/sauté de porc à la provençale, salads and puds and wine. As we were sitting chatting a distinguished chap on the next table leaned over and asked if Mr Smith was an actor or a singer! ‘He has such a fine voice, so clear.’ Turns out this fellow is such a creature and sings in choirs in Paris specialising in Russian liturgical music. He and Gerard exchanged phone numbers. We opined that being both a teacher and from the North often resulted in clear speech. At which a voice from behind me pipes up ‘And Scotland.’ So another new acquaintance joins the swelling ranks...a man from the Borders who has lived for many years in Faucon. We discussed restaurants there and got some good tips about other ones we didn’t know, plus confirmation of our suspicions about the previous incarnation of the bar in Puyméras. Mafia! Great! This is why we come.
