Nature walk

Decisive action required! So we left the house at 7.30 and drove to the canal outside Notre Dame d’Aubune from where we walked into Beaumes. Lots and lots of butterflies zipping about. Marbled white, Purple Emperor, little brown jobs, tiny blue ones. And more.

It was relatively cool, shady even, under the Canne de Provence and other waterside vegetation. An occasional lizard. The inky blue damsel flies darted from a blade of grass to a reed with a flash of turquoise and the cicadas were on maximum car alarm volume. They could use them in Guantanamo! I know.. Not PC.

As well as fauna there was a good range of flora. Flowers of course. Exploding cucumbers,

pomegranate bush with baby fruit,

and some exquisite caper vines absolutely swarmimg with huge blue black bees.
They loved it...rolled about luxuriously in every flower.

Once arrivd at the market we bought croissants and sat in the shade of the Bar du Siècle with coffee, alongside the ladies having their pre work refreshment. At 8.50 they upped and dispersed to open up whichever enterprise they were in charge of.
I bought a dress! Partial use of my unexpected windfall from Ernie this morning.

STOP PRESS thunder, ominous clouds and huge splodges of rain.
