Autumn approaches

Much brighter today but windy - a cold one from the north. Money required for all the upcoming works so off we went to Vaison cash machine.

Then as it was so bright we continued to Piégon near Mirabel and had a walk round the streets through the vines under the hills. A touch bracing! But a lovely spot with views.

Somewhat marred however by this godawful so called sculpture grit blasted into the hillside.

Lunch indoors at Roaix- not a sitting out day today. Very good. Back home we see the chaps have almost finished the road repairs! Such efficiency. Just awaiting the tarmac now.

Aha…at 3pm the mighty tarmac layer arrives with gravel and a shiny drum of what we assume is black liquid.

A solitary operative deals with it all, manoeuvres backwards and forwards leaving neat strips of tar and grit, gets out his bucket and can for the fiddly bits and a big broom to sweep them all into place.

All done, he removes the lorry and returns to photograph his endeavours and retrieve the bucket and spade.

Meanwhile, the roller machine waiting patiently alongside leaps into life beeping frantically and dashes up the road to flatten the lot.
Have to say we were impressed by this work. They were so quick and efficient and tidy! Plus having a grandstand view from our front sitting room🤗
