Only 50 shades?

We are currently peering over an immensely thick sheaf of paint colour swatches trying to decide which of the zillion slightly different shades of grey will grace our decrepit shutters. They are to be repainted, you see, in an attempt to extend their tenuous hold on life. Monsieur Boukersanna (Bouki to his friends and customers) brought round the tome the other evening and this morning we walked the streets, swatches in hand, holding up cards against any likely matches. Impossible!

At the moment I am hesitating between a blueish tinge (Gris Castor) and a more grey grey (Gris Alger). Adrian has singled out Gris Silicum and Gris Volcans. Gris Ouessant, though tempting, is too light… Does it really matter! Once the sun gets at it all distinction will be lost.

Wind has got up but it is a southerly and warm so the temperature is still 24. Storm forecast for later.

The good news is that Berkhamstead have finally made it despite petrol shortages and family members inconveniently getting the Plague. They came for morning coffee but were no help in selecting colour - bright orange, I believe, was suggested!

When we were pondering later we found this dear little gecko sheltering on the other side.
