We closed the road

Yeah! Finally and after much persuasion Mr Fernandes hired the cherry picker to come and reattach the gutter on the street façade.

Dear chap thought the hire of this kit was too expensive and seemed embarrassed. But as far as I’m concerned it was €300 (+€100 for labour) well spent. The anxiety levels were rising each time there was a storm and poor Nicole across the road had even been driven to send me emails about the dangling gutter!

So the road was closed and official notices stuck to the barriers - only took about an hour anyway.

Adrian would have liked a ride but we thought probably not a good idea…

Flushed with success at this major hurdle overcome we decided lunch was in order. But where? Too windy for Roaix, too shady in Vacqueyras…Aha! Puyméras.

So undeterred by having to plough through the luxury coaches in Vaison transporting élèves home from school for Wednesday afternoon we dashed off in the direction of le Café des Barrys. Basking in the sunshine and joy of joys the plat du jour was Boeuf Bourguignon. And very good too. Just a lovely spot, relaxed, warm, happy hubbub, gracious local grey cat. And an elderly semi lurcher type dog who arrived in the luggage van of some cyclists and sat with his paws neatly together while owners took refreshment. The legend on his conveyance read Nibali on Tour!
