Some random photos from the journey
Tuesday…Beaumes de Venise market for fruit because tomorrow is Wednesday, usually Malaucène, but not this week as Le Tour is finishing there and obvs the market will not be in its path. Well we assume so but maybe it will just manage to get out of the way in time. Best not to risk it!
So an earlyish start - not quite as early as our neighbours, seen striding out with Nordic walking poles and serious boots! All fine until we hit Vaqueyras where the traffic stopped and started in a long queue. Men being creative with concrete at the big roundabout. We resolved to return unto our own village Another Way.
Anyway Beaumes was reached, temperature as yet bearable under grey clouds, croissants bought and coffee partaken in the Bar du Siècle among the stalls of produce. I bought a skirt…had really wanted some lightweight trousers and t shirt but you take what you can! Then vast quantities of fruit, and some prawns for lunch.
The swimming pool is closed again this year which is a pity.
The aforementioned alternative route home to avoid the roadworks was interesting if a bit longer than anticipated. It took us down roads hitherto untrammelled through domaines with names suggestive of struggle. Le sang des cailloux, la ferme sans regret to name but two.
Once more on familiar roads we sped through Violès and home via the old railway track. It is now reaching 30 on the terrace and very muggy under the blanket of cloud.
